Standing with Oklahoma Forestry Services

DISTRICT 20 OKLAHOMA HOUSE / From the desk of Jonathan Wilk

As Oklahomans, we’ve always taken pride in stepping up when our neighbors are in need. That’s exactly what the Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS) does every day — and I’m proud to support their mission and the men and women who carry it out.

I want to take a moment to voice my support for the Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS), a critical state agency headquartered right here in Goldsby. Their work is important — not just to our district, but to all of Oklahoma.

From wildfire prevention and emergency response to land and resource management, OFS plays a frontline role in keeping our communities safe.

The wildfires we’ve seen recently are a sobering reminder of just how important that role is. When disasters strike, it’s the Forestry Services team that steps in with the experience, coordination and equipment to protect lives and property.

OFS doesn’t replace our local fire departments — it supports them. And for rural areas, that support is invaluable. Many of our fire departments rely on volunteers and limited funding. When a wildfire grows beyond local capacity, OFS provides the backup that makes all the difference.

As conversations continue about the future of this agency, I believe it’s important to recognize the value OFS brings to our state.

I’m proud to have them based in our district and proud to stand behind their efforts to protect Oklahoma’s people, property and natural resources.

As always, if you have questions or concerns about what’s happening at the Capitol, I want to hear from you. You can email me at Jonathan. [email protected] or call my office at 405-557-7308. It’s an honor to serve District 20.
