Newcastle Middle School announces that it will soon be time for students to make course requests. They ask that parents begin thinking about the electives they want their students to take next year.
Middle schoolers who participate in athletics or band are reminded of the 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 Physical Night at Newcastle High School.
In other NMS news, School Resource Officer Brayden Jones reminds parents to make use of the early dropoff in the mornings. He said it saves time and the traffic is lighter at that time.
Mrs. Medrano notes that overdue notices for library books were sent home through the English teachers. She said on the back of the notices are ideas of places to check for a lost book and ways to take the book off of a student’s record if it can’t be found.
Thrive State Testing begins at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, Wednesday, April 23, and Friday, May 2. Students are reminded to make sure their Chromebooks are charged, and to get plenty of sleep the night before, then to eat breakfast those mornings.
NMS nurses remind parents that their students must have proof of the TDAP vaccination or an approved exemption prior to entry to seventh grade.
Familes with sixth grade students are being offered an optional service from 8:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24 through Total Wellness, to provide vaccines to current students. They remind parents that no student will be vaccinated without guardian consent.
Private insurance and VFD TDAP will be available, and guardians are asked to print and sign a consent form, and then return it to the office. These are available at the office.
Mrs. Karla Redbird, a sixthgrade social studies teacher, is the NMS Teacher Spotlight for the week. She is known for her innovative teaching, her kindness, and positive energy.
