Newcastle High School boys and girls track and field had a successful day at the Bridge Creek track meet despite the weather. The boys finished 5th overall and the girls finished 4th out of 16 teams.
Coaches said the meet Most Valuable Players were Alec Shumard and Katie Lewis.
Bringing medals home from the meet were: Gold medalist: Alec Shumard - 400m dash and 800m run.
Silver medalists: Katie Lewis - 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles.
Bronze medalists — boys 4x800m relay team of Luke Perkins, Jason Johnson, Keal Brickman, and Alec Shumard; Addi Bush - 800m run: Jordie Brooks - long jump; and Cooper Hayden - discus.
Scoring points for the Racers were: the boys 4x4 relay team of Chris Brinlee, Timo Porter, Keal Brickman and Alec Shumard; Luke Perkins - 800m run; Cooper Hayden - shot put; Chris Brinlee - long jump; KK Horton - 100m dash; KK Horton - 400m dash; Hadlee Mann - 2 mile; girls 4x1 relay team of Ella Phillips, Ayla Hulsey, Paisley Pearcy, and Jordie Brooks; girls 4x2 relay team of KK Horton, Ayla Hulsey, Rylee Heskew, and Leighton Wooten; girls 4x4 relay team of Addi Bush, Emma Bell, Katie Lewis, and Rylee Heskew; and Brylee Scott - shot put.
