Dorothy Mae Owens-Kimble

Dorothy Mae Owens-Kimble age 82 of Newcastle, OK, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.  Dorothy was born December 30, 1934 in Smokey Creek, Tennessee.  She was the oldest child of 11 children born to Elmer Massengale and Clemmie (Lowe) Massengale.   Dorothy grew up a country girl and attended school in Smokey Junction, TN.  In 9151 she married Meredith Owens and together they raised eight children, Norman, Danny, David, Timmy, Chris, Tammy, Teresa and Kevin.  Dorothy worked hard as a wife, mother and homemaker.  She also worked outside of the home as a waitress and cook.  For 18 years Dorothy, Meredith and the kids lived in South Vienna, Ohio.  In 1969, Meredith passed away and one year later, Dorothy married Homer Kimble, a truck driver from Oklahoma with five children, Nancy, Kenny, Jimmy, Patty and Bob.  Now two families became one big happy family.  As marriage would have it, one more child was born to Dorothy and Homer, a daughter, Kimberly.

In 1970, the family moved to Newcastle, OK, where she remained until the time of her death.  While living in Newcastle, Dorothy again worked as a homemaker and outside of the home.  She most recently worked at the Newcastle Casino until she retired at the age of 79.

Throughout her life, Dorothy enjoyed quilting, cooking, canning and reading her bible.   She will be remembered as a wonderful cook, a wonderful mother and grandmother.  She also was a special sister and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
