William Levi “Bill” Clay Sr. age 91 of Newcastle, OK passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Norman Regional Hospital. Bill was born December 16, 1925 in Cyril, Oklahoma. He was the 4th of six children born to Britton Hulet Clay and Della Roena (Whybark) Clay. Bill grew up in the Pleasant Plains, Arkansas and later in the Oklahoma City area.
Bill proudly served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and later in the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged he returned home to the Capitol Hill area where he met and soon married the love of his life.
On January 17, 1948 he married Imogene Letha Richmond in OKC. Together Bill and Imogene raised five children; Joyce, Billy, Randy, Myzella and Dawne.
After being trained as an electrician in the Navy, Bill made this his lifelong career. Over the years Bill worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons and lived in various states including, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia and Oklahoma. After retiring in 1976 he worked overseas as a private electrical contractor for several years. In 1992, Bill moved to Newcastle to live close to family, but he never fully retired. He continued to work part time up into his 80’s.
Over the years, Bill and Imogene enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children. Bill was a true patriot and while living in Newcastle, he was a member of the Blanchard American Legion. He loved being outdoors and doing things with his hands.

Parents, Britton and Della Clay;
Wife, Imogene Clay on April 5, 2009;
Three brothers, Clarence, Delbert and Elbert Clay;
Two sisters, Elsie Mae Newell and Laura Dell McMullin;
He is survived by:
Five children Joyce Leisher and husband Ken of Jacksonville, Florida,
Billy Clay and wife Pam of Milan, Michigan,
Randy Clay of Ontario, Oregon,
Myzella Beagle and husband Pat of Saline, Michigan,
Dawne Alery and husband Steve of Dallas, Georgia;
12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren,
Two brothers-in-law, Raymond Richmond and wife Carolyn of Mead, OK, Leland Richmond of Del City,
One sister-in-law, Barbara Clay of OKC;
Many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, May 8, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle, OK. Interment will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, 192nd Ave NE, Newalla, OK.
